Sub amplifier?

I own a alpine v12 amp it puts out 630 rms and i have two subs kicker cvr 12's they each mug 400 rms and i had my subs put in at circuit city and when i got the subs back the gain was set at 1.5 its a digital amp and the lower the number the louder they get and it goes all the way up to 5.0 i contemplate and the lowest is 0.0 and i just reset the gain on my amp to 0.7 its alot louder how much lower do you think i could get the acquire to i heard of how to set the gain on amos keep adjusting until the sub gets distorted but no matter the gain they dont distort and ive subdued them in now for two weeks?

I would not nudge them too much. Also im not too sure if the amp will be able to handle too much. You dont want it to over heat. Circuit City and Best Buy install stereos and keep them at a low mise en scene so they arent held responsible. I would not go too much more.
