I be a party to b manipulate cello, and I've had my cello for about 2 years. My cello is about 57 years old, and when I bought it, it looked great. Now, there are scratches all over and the paint is starting to fade. The higher parts of the cello (around the neck especially) are turning a yellow-ish color. I really want my cello to look nice. Any expropriate?
I concede with another post-er that it is the sound that counts, but I also know that you don't want your cello to look "un-great." I feel the same way about mine! :)
So.... If you lack the scratches to go, you can take it to a trustworthy music repair center... they can do this thing where they put this special "putty" in any scratches/dents and then fill it in with a valued "marker" that matches the cello's finish. There are probably other procedures they can do, too.
I'm sure your instrument is very lovely; I foresee this helps you getting it back in tip-top shape :)
