Are newer stereo amplifiers better than vintage phase linear by Bob Carver?

I've always wanted a P.L. 700B, but I be amazed if the new electronics greatly exceeds the vintage variety. The older model sounds tube-like, what would it compare to today??

Q: Is there any rational about buying a receiver for the current crop in the use of audio only? I used it to cassette, records, tapes and Deo Volente an interpreter for the CD. I recognize the vintage receivers that vocation for home theater because of the technological limits of analog versus digital. Besides, what makes you want to certify any warning to other building of a system of harvest?

A: If you are building a system only for music, a vintage receiver is a form of talent to go.Vintage receivers in all amplifier sections are smarter than the widely known theater receivers accommodation. They also have larger sections phono input (which many recipients may not have known at all) and tuners smarter. Receivers today cost about the same or even less than twenty years ago but I usually have to run six fifty-five speakers and attach to the treatment, too. Adding functions while holding the toll subtlety has to say something about somewhere, and normally the phone subdivision and the location and strength of the amplifier.

My favorite vintage receivers are clearly the NAD PE series from the 1980s, as 7140PE and 7175PE. They have sponge tough, terrible phono sections that present the reproduction of an exceptional reputation, probably amplifiers (160 and 300 watts Ridge, each to each.) Unfortunately also may suggest 4-ohm speakers, which means you can simply hike anything with them. Back in the 1980s almost any decent stereo receiver excellent keynote speaker could smooth oriented 4-ohm. These days are few and far between and it is reprehensible.As a rule, one of the cleanest speakers present for music lovers is the budget of $ 550 Magnepan MMG, a drum-level panel bath with a triple-purpose flooring manufacturer that also makes speakers that the rate of more than $ 10,000 above.
