My new car has a cassette player. Can i connect it to a MP3/CD changer?

I've unprejudiced bought a BMW coupe which has a cassette player. I also have a pioneer single CD/MP3 player and good speakers which i took out of my old car before selling it. As the cassette player is inbuilt i'm assuming i can't slay it without subtantial damage (correct me if i'm wrong). As an alternative i was considering connecting it to an CD changer which could also player MP3 CDs. Is this possible and will there be any issues with MP3 compatability? Thanks

I imagine that your tape player is the BMW Business system. If so there are several options, firstly you can add a cd changer into the boot, there are available from several sites, check WWW.ADDACDCHANGER.CO.UK, also you can take out the video player and fit a facia adaptor and using a wiring harness add your old pioneer unit. this does however take the nice look of the sprint away slightly.

They are quite simple to fit and most parts are available online.

i think the use of tape adaptors are a ruin of time as you loose the quality of sound
